For some it still seems shocking when I say that I don’t need to have ‘own’ children to be a mother.
Some women are made for it, I am not. Some women want it, I don’t.
I feel deep respect for all mothers and those who wholeheartedly try to be one, the women under pressure and those who are not given the gift of motherhood… these words by beloved Amma touched me:
‘Anyone who has the courage to overcome the limitations of the mind will attain the state of universal motherhood. This is a love and compassion felt not only towards one’s own child, but also towards all people, animals, plants, rocks and rivers. It’s a love extended to all of nature and all beings. To one in whom the state of true motherhood has awakened, all creatures are her children. This awakening of love, this motherhood, is Divine Love. This is God.’
